Our experiences:

We visited the Hermitage on April 21, 2002 and again on April 22, 2002. We found nothing out of the ordinary. With one exception. We saw no squirrels, no birds, no wildlife of any kind within the perimeter of the ruins. Everything was silent except for hikers on the trail leading around the ruins and an occassional bird off in the distance. Once we left the ruins we saw birds of all description flitting about the trees.

Note:

The pictures that are shown in this investigation have what we believe to be real paranormal content. This of course is our OPINION ONLY. It is up to the individual to decide for themselves if what we had captured on camera is real or not! All pictures taken were witnessed by those in attendance while they were still on the camera. With that said we hope you, the viewer, enjoy your visit to our site.

This is the path leading back to the parking lot from the ruins. Notice the apparition taking shape just down the trail? That was not visible to the naked eye. We had no idea we would catch anything in this shot. Check out the close up view below for our ghostly visitor and see if you can see him?!

Do you see the face of a man here? It was brought to our attention by one of our visitors, and upon closer inspection we have to agree. It does look like we had a ghost posing for this picture.

We returned to the Hermitage ruins again on April 27, 2002 for another investigation. Once we stepped beyond the two stones marking the beginning of the trail to the ruins, all four of us had the weirdest feeling. Something was not quite right. Something felt just a bit odd on this trip. We continued down the trail slowly, stopping often to listen. We kept hearing what seemed to be trees creaking in the wind. But the wind wasn't blowing hard enough to make them creak.

When we got to the first big bend in the trail we each simultaneously felt a heaviness in our chests, and a sense of dread. Stopping in our tracks we aimed the camera at the dark ahead of us and clicked a picture. Little did we know that we would catch this very large red orb hovering very near to where we were standing. We then turned back and walked a ways back, toward the parking lot, until the feeling eased a little. We discussed the uneasy feelings we each were having for a few minutes. Then determined to go out to the ruins, we turned around again and proceeded to the mansion. Just before we moved on again, we looked up and saw a branch directly above us swaying as if by the wind. It was a low branch only about 2 feet above our heads. Yet the branches around it were not moving at all.

It's strange when we think of it now. The moon was hidden by the clouds, it was pitch black, and there was no real source of light. Yet we could see the trail quite clearly in the dark.
Then to make things even more unsettling, we felt a tremendous sense of forboding as we continued toward the mansion itself.

We began a slow circle around the mansion walls, stopping to click a picture every few feet. Then occassionally turning to click a picture behind us. As we came around into the center of the ruins, the heaviness in our chest seemed to intensify to a point that it was hard to breathe. We clicked a picture of the darkness surrounding us, and later found a very large orb sitting near our feet. And a very large red colored entity hovering near, as well as another rather large orb sitting near the wall in the background.

Without moving from the spot we'd stopped, we turned just a bit and clicked another picture. It was getting very difficult to continue due to the pressure we all seemed to be feeling. Once we downloaded the pictures we were surprised to find the large red entity had shifted closer to us, and intensified it's colors. There were also multiple orbs hovering near at this point.

We stood in one place for a few minutes just listening, trying to comprehend the feelings we were having. A sense of urgency, a need to leave, an overwhelming dread. We discussed what we should do next and decided that we would take a few more pictures then make our way back to the car.

We continued to have the heaviness in our chests and a feeling of dread, so we began clicking off a few last pictures as we started back out to the front of the mansion to leave.

We all stopped in our tracks and listened carefully. We each thought we'd heard something. But couldn't decide what it was we'd heard. So we stepped forward a bit to click a picture from the inside of the mansion walls, facing out toward the road in front. The hairs on the back of our necks seemed to be standing all on end, and we each felt a shiver run down our backs. Something seemed to be making it's presence known, even though we couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Needing a reference point, Matthew was sent out in front a few paces and another picture was clicked off. As he was standing there he said it felt cold and clammy. He didn't want to stay any longer. And since we all felt the same way we began making our way out to the front of the mansion walls again so we could leave. The uncomfortable feeling had persisted since we'd stepped onto the path out near the parking lot.

We continued clicking pictures on our way back to the car but didn't capture anything else worth mentioning. It was a spine tingling night that we would not soon forget. There is definitely paranormal activity at the Hermitage. And it is definitely worth the time to investigate. We will be returning again in the future to do another investigation.
